Sierra County is a northern California county which borders the state of Nevada. Downieville is the county seat of Sierra County and is located in the western half of Sierra County. Loyalton has the largest population and is located in the Eastern part of Sierra County.
The towns of Indian Valley, Goodyears Bar, Downieville, Sierra City, Bassetts, and the historic Gold Lake Recreation Area are on the western side of
Sierra County. Yuba Pass is a high mountain pass which connects the mountainous western half of the county with
what is known as the Sierra Valley. The towns of Sattley, Sierraville, and Loyalton are in the eastern half of the county.
