Gilman Design will work with you to fully evaluate what your web needs are and put together a Needs Assessment List. This list will determine what your initial and future web needs are and built them into a web page. This gathered information should include: How many pages the web site will be? What is your budget? Is this site going to include e-commerce? Is this going to be a standard static web page or a more dynamic one with a back end database? Do you need an animated gif? Or, perhaps, a 'flash' opening? Gilman Design produces streaming  video  All this should be considered. This list of information will determine the cost and a time estimate.

Web Design phase is the second part and starts after the Needs Assessment phase has completed. A Look and Feel rough draft of your website will be will be submitted for your assessment before work progresses. Once the design and navigation of the web page has been agreed upon, the web page starts to be built and tested. We will keep you updated on the web page progress or you can review it on your own and call or E-mail your feedback.

Gilman Design has used several web hosting companies in the past and can make recommendations to help you determine which would be the best for you. A couple of options exist. The first being a Sierra Business Directory Website. If your business is in Sierra County, Camptonville, Vinton, Chilcoot, or Halluajeh you can get a free listing of your business under the town you live in. Business Websites are also available. Your website would be hosted by the www.goodyearsbar.com server. If your business is in Loyalton(as an example) then you would have an entry on the Loyalton Business Directory. Each Sierra Directory Website has its own unique URL(universal resource locator) address. If your business name was Royce Stevens Salvage ( as an example ) then your URL on the Sierra Business Directory would be www.goodyearsbar.com/royce.php. This URL may be addressed from any computer from any place on the internet and from anyplace in the world. The php extension refers to PHP (pretty home page), a server side scripting language in vogue today. You would be in responsible for the website content. And additional cost would get you a URL such as www.roycestevensalvage.com. (note: Only if the name was not in use by someone else) Having control of website content allows you to change anything you don't like about your webpage. You may submit multiple pictures and text up to a page worth. Page length is about the length of this page you are looking at, which is quite long. Gilman Design will update your page as the need arises (Limit of 6 times yearly). You have no monthly charges and a yearly fee  is assessed for this service. (see fee schedule).

The second option requires that you currently have a hosting company or have a hosting company you would like to try. A Business website can be hosted on any machine anywhere in the world.

A courtesy call or E-mail will be made when the updates are finished and live on the Internet.

Gilman Design offers one-on-one training classes to those clients who want to update and maintain their own web pages. Which web applications are need to get started, the basics of how to make changes to your web page and how to use FTP (file transfer over the Internet). We cover the changes from your computer to the web server.
