Goodyears Bar is in California 95944

This ranch presently known as the Wright Ranch was first owned by Jason Campbell, a miner in Goodyears Bar in 1853. He started a livery stable for use by the packs trains between Marysville-Goodyears Bar and Goodyears Bar-Downieville. H.H. Kennedy purchased the ranch in 1875. Kennedy raised hay and vegetables and in 1880 built a huge home of mansion dimension.

John Costa bought the ranch in 1920 and lived there until selling to the Atlas Power Company in 1925. Mrs Marie Wright made many improvements building a care-taker house and planting many plants and flowers on this beautiful landscape.

Circa 1920. The Turners Dairy was also located on the ranch. Presently this Campbell-Kennedy-Costa-Wright-Bertillion ranch is owned by Betty Smart. Turners milk bottle top circa 1924 Property of the author, Cy Rollins. Return Page Top
